One of Black Daisies’ first creation & a classic piece: The Gardenia.

The ring is composed of an organic patch of skulls that were hand-carved using the lost-wax technique. The band is thin in thickness and organic shaped. Each piece is always different as we size them in wax before casting them. The ring’s body is tapered and the texture follows it seamlessly.

Artist’s statement:

The Gardenia ring, inspired by the Cambodian catacombs & genocide that killed nearly 1.7 millions from 1975-1979.

I felt compelled to create a piece that represents my roots and my family’s history. My parents fled the war when they were very young, and came here, in Canada, to live a better life. I am blessed to live a comfortable life as an artist while others before me couldn’t. This ring is also a reminder to live fully, another Memento Mori in our collection.
